Consultant Doctors

The OCSC Board of Directors has appointed external physician consultants from University Departments to cover specialties besides cardiac surgery and cardiology. The attending doctor ascertains the need for the patient to be examined by a Consultant Doctor, when it is considered necessary for the course of treatment for his/her disease and hospitalization.

The fee for the consultants for the first hour is €100 and for each subsequent hour €50. Patients pay out of pocket or through private insurance the Consultant Doctor’s fee through OCSC, prior to their discharge.

If deemed necessary that a Consultant Doctor must carry out a procedure, unrelated to cardiology and/or cardiac surgery for a hospitalized patient, the cost of such a procedure is paid by the patient. Information about costs and their payment is given by the Patient Accounting department.
