The office of Legal Counsel reports directly to the President of the Board. Its mission is to ensure that OCSC develops its services and its overall activities in accordance to current legislation and the overall protection of OCSC interests.
To that end:
(a) Issues written opinions regarding the cases that hospital management assigns to it.
(b) Assumes all extrajudicial proceedings or judicial affairs and generally any form of legal aid without degree limit or jurisdiction as it is assigned in the Code of Lawyers
The office of Legal Counsel is involved mainly in the following fields:
- Corporate Law (Negotiations with suppliers, insurance companies, insurance funds, procurement tenders and supplier contracts)
- Labor Law (personal or collective agreements, collective bargaining, labor law issues resolution)
- Medical Law (liability , confidentiality , medical ethics with emphasis on bioethics and biotechnology)
The legal counsel is a member of the Ethics Committee and also participates in other committees or work groups in the hospital as hospital management sees fit.
